Growing up in a small town in Eastern Nebraska, I was blessed to be able to walk to hunt pheasant and quail. Being from a non-hunting family, a birddog was out of the question; but friends and neighbors had Viszlas, German Shorthair Pointers, and of course, Labrador Retrieves and Springers. I was lucky enough to see all of these dogs work on birds.
Moving to Western Colorado in 2013 only opened up more and more opportunities for birds in varying terrain. As I bought my own dog, I began to spend many afternoons with a professional trainer. I was able to learn hands on from pointing labs, versatile dogs, and even some protection dogs. From there, I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with several professional retriever & pointer trainers.
As a personal trainer and past professor, teaching has been a part of my daily life for over 16 years. The transition from training people to training their dogs was a natural progression. Communication with dogs is more subtle than communicating with people. One thing about dogs, is they are honest to a fault. None of their behaviors are a lie or a cover-up. Everything they do has a purpose. When it comes to reading dogs, you have to watch for the subtle behaviors, then understand what it was that caused the behavior; then you have the thing to work on, not the action itself. Dogs, like people, have a personality that ties into a love language and a preferred learning style. Putting the pieces together for each dog is the “art” of dog training.
Creating a great dog is like creating a masterpiece. It starts with the best materials (genetics), then it requires skill, patience, practice/hard work, and a vision bigger than each individual brush stroke. Having trained dogs of many different breeds and for many different disciplines, has allowed me to build a skillset over time. I have trained and taken dogs all the way to the Invitational in NAVHDA, Regional Trials in NSTRA, and countless hunting dogs of all levels. It really is the small details & rewards I get from the dogs that make this such a passion of mine.

Breeding & Litters
Although not a full time breeder we do have a stud dog available. Also we offer a couple arranged breedings per year out of dogs that we feel are very special and meet the characteristics we want to train and hunt over.
